I met with a client yesterday who shared her recent experience in dealing with a detached retina.
I’ll spare you the grisly details about the surgery and recovery process. Someone who overheard that part of our conversation yesterday said it made her wobbly at the knees just hearing about it.
What I will share with you is a comment my client overheard while undergoing surgery. The specialist performing the surgery was working with a resident who was carrying out part of the procedure. Occasionally, the resident would stray to the periphery of the surgical light and the specialist would remind him to “always work in the centre of your light”.
How powerful would it be if we could always work in the centre of our light? What does working at the centre of your light mean for you?
For me, it means staying focused on what I do best and what feeds my intellect and my soul. Life and work still hold endless possibilities to me. I’m one of those people who would happily go in 18 different directions at once if I could and there’s nothing wrong with exploration as long as you know where the centre of your light is and how to get back to it.
